London, 21 June 2011: THINKERS50 2011
This November, the world's leading business gurus will converge on London for an Oscars-style awards gala and summit. Created by Stuart Crainer and Des Dearlove in 2001, the Thinkers50 (www.thinkers50.com) is the premier ranking of global business thinkers. For the sixth ranking, the Thinkers50 is joining forces with Benchmark for Business for the first ever Thinkers50 Summit in London on November 14 and 15 2011. The Harvard Business Review is this year's Thinkers50 media partner.
"This is a great leap forwards for the Thinkers50," says co- founder Des Dearlove. "We believe that management ideas really make a difference and the Thinkers50 Summit will help bring ideas to new audiences."
On November 14 at an awards evening, the winner of the Thinkers50 will be announced. The past winners are CK Prahalad, Michael Porter and Peter Drucker.
In addition the Thinkers50 will announce the winners of eight new awards recognising the leading thinkers in the fields of: innovation; strategy; globalisation; and leadership; as well as the best emerging thinker; the most significant breakthrough idea; and the most important book of the last two years. Short-lists for these awards will be announced during September.
"It will be the equivalent of the Oscars for business thinkers," adds Thinkers50 co-founder Stuart Crainer. "We will be celebrating the very brightest and best in management thinking."
The winners are chosen through a combination of voting at the Thinkers50 website and input from our advisory group. Already confirmed as advisers are Josh Macht, Group Publisher, Harvard Business Review Group; Mary Glenn, Associate Publisher, Business & Finance, McGraw Hill; Santiago Iniguez, Dean, IE Business School; Kevin Kelly, CEO, Heidrick & Struggles; Richard Stagg, Editorial Director of Financial Times Prentice Hall; Dr Ali Qassim Al Lawati of Abu Dhabi's Department of Economic Development; and Steve Mostyn, Associate Fellow, Saïd Business School, at the University of Oxford.
The Harvard Business Review and Benchmark for Business join the long-standing Thinkers50 partner, McGraw Hill, which sponsors the Thinkers50 Interview Series. This features unique, in-depth video interviews with the world's leading management thinkers. Interviews available at the Thinkers50 website include Philip Kotler, Gary Hamel, VJ Govindarajan, Richard D'Aveni, Howard Gardner, CK Prahalad and Marshall Goldsmith.
"We are delighted to be involved in creating the first Thinkers50 Summit," says Colin Ross of Benchmark for Business (www.benchmarkforbusiness.com). "We have always loved the Thinkers50 concept and have put on events around the world with many of those featured." About the Thinkers50 The definitive global ranking of management thinkers is published every two years. The 2009 winner was CK Prahalad. The ranking is based on voting at the Thinkers50 website and input from a team of advisers led by Stuart Crainer and Des Dearlove. The Thinkers50 has ten established criteria by which thinkers are evaluated -- originality of ideas; practicality of ideas; presentation style; written communication; loyalty of followers; business sense; international outlook; rigor of research; impact of ideas and the elusive guru factor.
